Magazines

While not as popular as in times past, magazines form an important part of a total brand identity and experience. They also provide content which can be matrixed for other marketing purposes. In the print world, magazines are a visual standard in the same way that in the age of the Apple Watch, a Rolex is still a coveted means of telling time. Magazines have transcended their traditional role moving from vehicles to carry advertising to becoming statements of unadulterated style residing in lush paper and flawless print and design.

Magazine | CM Magazine Fall/Winter 23
At CM, the summer read is more than a book or reading assignment. It is a programatic lesson that endures throughout the academic year. This has never been shown or explained to parents and we took this opportunity to dive deeper into something that shows the level of thought and pedagogy undertaken at CM. CM Magazine is design by John Emmert of John Emmert AD/CD and all the content is shot, written and conceptulized in-house by myself and my team.

In this issue, the marketing idea was to show aspects of the school co-curriculars that do not receive much attention. The performing arts became our main feature story along with a video component delivered to the online version of the magazine.

Autograph Collection Hotels: Magazine / Five
This was one our most prestigious client at Hawthorn Creative, one which was assigned to me to conceptualize, and execute on. As the managing editor, I was responsible for ideating the story ideas, assigning work to a handful of writers, photographers and illustrators, directing design and editing the work.

Magazine | CM Fall Winter 22
In order to create this cover showing students in the classroom space and chapel, I devised a two-step shoot with half of the boys in one location and other half in the other location. Showing dichotomy on a single page requires good ideas.
